GEBAT was established in 2019 in Lugo (Ravenna) by the Bassi family, with the clear objective of providing continuity to a half-century tradition of excellence in the industrial battery charger sector.
Our story began in 1973, when Bruno and Tiziana Bassi founded Bassi Bruno Elettromeccanica Snc (later Bassi Srl). Starting from the ground up and fueled by deep technical passion, they built a rock-solid foundation for the company. Together, they instilled the core principles that still define us today: integrity, technical precision, a human-centric approach, and an absolute dedication to “doing things right.“
In 2002, leadership passed to their son, Andrea Bassi. An electrical engineer who grew up within the company’s walls, Andrea successfully bridged his parents’ heritage of craftsmanship with a forward-thinking technological vision.
Under his direction, the company transformed from a regional center of excellence into a global industry leader, initiating strategic partnerships with the most influential players in the power electronics market.

Bassi Srl merged with the Anglo-American group SEVCON, a specialist in traction inverters already listed on the NASDAQ technology index. This strategic merger integrated our expertise into a publicly traded global entity, positioning our technology at the forefront of the international electrical landscape.
- 2017.
Following the success of this integration, the group was acquired through a public tender offer by a leading automotive multinational. This acquisition was driven by the global giant’s objective to leverage our deep-rooted power electronics know-how for the rapidly evolving electric vehicle (EV) sector.
Following this significant corporate evolution, the Bassi family chose to return to their entrepreneurial roots. Driven by a desire to preserve their specialized heritage and commitment to the industrial sector, they founded GEBAT.
Today, we continue to provide the industry with the same dedication and unmatched expertise that began in 1973.
